InnoGear Boom Mic Stand for Blue Snowball Review

Hey everyone, my name is Jonathan with Permaslug and welcome to another product review episode. Today what I'm going to cover is the boom arm that I wanted for my Blue Snowball microphone. I really liked this mic, so I didn't feel the need to purchase a new mic and a new boom and I found that these boom arms aren't terribly expensive for this mic.

One thing that I noticed right off the bat is in some of the reviews they mentioned that the thread adjuster that they give you to change the thread from the blue desk mount size to the arm size that you need, sometimes it wouldn't work for whatever reason, but I found no issues with mine whatsoever, it works perfectly fine.

What I Was Looking For

What I really wanted out of a boom mic stand like this was not having to buy a new mic because like I said, I'm really happy with my Blue Snowball. I wanted the arm to be floating so that I could get some desk space back and kind of going hand in hand with that to be able to type underneath the mic while I'm recording videos because a lot of times in my tutorial videos on my YouTube channel, I'm trying to type while I'm recording the video.

I also wanted to really easily be able to get the mic out of the way while it's not in use and make it look really clean. Instead of having the mic still sitting on my desk like before or trying to go put it away and get it back out every time I needed it. Another little small thing was improving the sound quality with a pop filter and a windshield, which is included with this particular product. So the packaging is super simple and totally sufficient. I didn't expect anything special and it definitely wasn't anything special, but it totally gets the job done.

What's Included

What is included in the product is the Blue Snowball Windshield, the snowball screw mount adjuster, the pop filter desk clamp, the XLR mic Holder and the adjustable boom arm.

Assembly

Of course the assembly is super easy.

  • You basically start by attaching the clamp to your desk.
  • You put the boom arm into the clamp, then screw in the provided thread adjuster size to your blue snowball mic.
  • You put the windshield on the mic, screw it into the thread on the bottom of the boom arm, adjust the screws for the boom arm tensioner to your liking and then install the pop filter.
  • Now when you're trying to install the pop filter, gravity does have an effect on this, so it'll take some time to get that right.
  • You're going to have to find a way to mount the pop filter to the boom arm and then that way it doesn't fall in the middle of the use.

Overall I'm really satisfied with this product. There's not a whole lot to say. It's super simple to adjust, really easy to set up, not terribly expensive and it's just a really nice addition to my workstation here. I'm really happy with this product and I definitely should have invested in one sooner.
